Jake Bedard’s guitar addiction began in middle school, when he was teaching himself classic rock riffs on an old acoustic guitar. He enrolled in private lessons throughout high school and shifted his focus from classic rock to extreme metal. Jake then went on to study music at Rhode Island College, focusing primarily on jazz. Studying under several alumni, this time expanded his musical knowledge and technique to new heights as he also began to experiment with 7-and-8-string guitar. Having played in a variety of bands with genres ranging from R&B to death metal, Jake finds a happy midpoint between his various influences in his band, Blind Revision, with whom he has toured the East Coast. His current musical style is heavily inspired by jazz, progressive metal, math rock, and video game soundtracks. As such, Jake is comfortable teaching rock, metal, jazz, blues, pop, punk, and R&B styles, among others. Jake has also performed as part of a TED Talk on the topic of music in education, and has taught bass, guitar, and composition with Care2Rock, an organization that supports children in foster care via online music lessons.
